Making the dress and bloomers was my first go at ruffles and thanks to some great tips from ya'll, I was able to master them. (I used a piece of twine and a zig zag stitch and they came together without any more gnashing of teeth.) I used McCall's 6539 pattern which I had no trouble following once I figured out the ruffle situation. I adore the way the scale of the ostriches in the fabric and the little hearts are just so sweet.
And here's the lovely model, Ella! She's a petite little thing and I made everything waaaaaay to big, but she'll grow into it, right? :) She is absolutely swimming in her little ostrich suit :) How beautiful is she?
So...who wants some Olive the Ostrich? I have 2 FQ packs to give away to 2 of you! Just leave me a comment here and tell me what sewing skill you've recently conquered (or want to conquer!). I will draw the winners the morning of Wed 8/8/12.
My fun berry basket from Anthropologie. Have been waiting to fill it with FQs for a photo shoot. I suspect you will be seeing it again!
The selvage even has little hearts on it. They make me smile. :)
I'm working on a patchwork wall hanging right now and have incorporated a bit of Olive into it. Hoping to make some headway on it this weekend and can share it with you next week. Have a wonderful weekend and good luck everyone!

Oh, she is just adorable!!! And surely there's no better model for your wonderful fabric creations!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful model!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to need that line of fabric! You are soo awesome!
My new sewing adventure is hexies!!! I heard they were addicting BUT SERIOUSLY!!
I've loved this since the first sneaky peek I saw. I love Ostriches! Those little ruffled bloomers are adorable too!
ReplyDeleteI would like to conquer sewing zippers into garments or other things. I know it probably seems easy enough, but I've always been intimidated by them.
I have also jumped on the Hexy bandwagon and I am loving it! It makes you look at fabric in a whole new way!
ReplyDeleteThis fabric line is adorable! Thanks for the chance to win!
That dress is adorable! I reaaly need to work on elastic, that strechy litte bugger!
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing so long, I've tried just about every facet of it. (Can't think of anything new I've tried lately.)The little dress and bloomers are adorable and so is the baby!
ReplyDeleteI am intimidated by pillows... I would like to make one one day soon
ReplyDeletei'd like to conquer the actual starting of a project!!! i tend to procrastinate heavily when i'm not quite sure of all the details, when in reality the time is better spent muddling through it - i could probably perfect it by trying it a few times faster than waiting around until i figure it all out in my head!
ReplyDeleteI must learn how to machine quilt. I am so scared to try anything except straight lines
ReplyDeleteI've been doing more machine quilting rather than paying for it to be done. Mostly smaller projects, but I'm getting better.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered this collection for my shop... so cute to see what you did with it.
ReplyDeleteThese are super cute, and so is the baby and her new clothes!
ReplyDeleteI've been working on embroidery lately, trying to improve my skills there. But next up will probably be using zippers, something I've never done before. (But there are a million and one tutorials online, so I'm bound to figure it out without too much trouble.)
(clumsy.chord(at)gmail.com)
Maybe it's a little silly, but I've been learning how to use the square in a square method to get me out of some intricate small triangle piecing. Thanks for sharing with us! :)
ReplyDeletehmm...well I'm trying to conquer paper piecing patterns using the freezer paper technique. I went to bed last night thinking about it, so I guess it is on my brain. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is SO cute. I would still like to learn to free motion quilt.
ReplyDeleteAh, cute model! And cute dress :)
ReplyDeleteI would really like to be able to free motion quilt. I have been trying to get there for almost two years now but somehow my machine just don't want me to (at least that is what I am convinced is going on :) )
Love the ostriches! Makes me want to do baby clothes again! As a longtime hand quilter I have been slowing improving my machine quilting.
ReplyDeleteI just learned how to long arm quilt and I made my first quilt with it. I LOVE it and it looks awesome (toot, toot says my horn).
ReplyDeleteI really like the ostrich print even though I had an ostrich bite me when I was 7 years old and haven't wanted anything to do with ostriches since. Clearly the ostrich I met wasn't a loving ostrich like Olive.
I mastered french seams this summer. Love that wee girl & your ostriches are sweet. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteI want to learn quilt stitching. I can do simple things, like straigh lines, but I want to learn how to do the swirls and flowers and other fun things. So, I think that I need to take a class!
What a cute little model ... and your fabric line is fantastic as well.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound silly but I have finally figured out how to work with metallic thread! After many long talks with the nice ladies at my LQS and finding out that I should NOT talk about thread with the mechanics. I learned that there is such a thing as a metallic thread needle, need to drop my tension and slow WAY down. Apparently I kept melting my thread ... oops. Keep up the good work. Your fabric is beautiful as always. Thanks for the great giveaway.
i don't know that i've conquered anything but i did just figure out i can use my open toe walking foot instead of a zipper foot and that has made my life 10 times easier.
ReplyDeleteOh geez, this is SO cute! I haven't mastered anything new recently, but I did just get a new fancy machine, so I'm hoping to master the basics on it soon!! Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've recently mastered the art of draping to make clothes, and the next thing I want to master is carving stamps and designing my own fabric!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness...I love that fabric and love that baby!! The outfit is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweetie!! FMQ is what I am trying to conquer; not sure it will ever happen though..lol
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing for so long, there isn't a lot I haven't done. But I bought a serger recently & have been working a lot with it-I love it!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLove your baby outfit-so cute! I'm working on my free motion quilting. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHELLO! I'M TRYING TO LEARN FREE MOTION QUILTING-JUST TAKES LOTS OF PRACTICE,I THINK!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS FOR SHARING SOME "OLIVE"!
msstitcher1948@yahoo.com
Have two grandchildren due next year and would love to sew some clothes for them. After seeing your cute outfit will have to give it a try.
ReplyDeletethose ruffles are the cutest thing I have ever seen. I regret that my little one is already 2 and a half and I missed the chance to put ruffles on her butt when she was crawling around. You did a fantastic job! And those ostriches are to DIE for. I made a little dress with the Llama fabric but I don't think my kid's wardrobe will be complete without one from ostrich fabric as well!
ReplyDeletesuper cute!!
ReplyDeleteI need to master curves. :)
I'm working on my first ever quilt right now, so I'm learning lots of new things. My most recent skill: piecing my rows.
ReplyDeleteAll very cute. I've been working hard to take my free-motion quilting up a notch. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI've just about completed my first quilt. I'm so excited! It was challenging trying to get everything lined up right, but it has turned out so beautiful so far!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I love the fabric too. I'm trying to work my nerve to follow a pattern for a dress for my little girl. We've just moved so it may be a little way off, but it's still looming there.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely :D I have an unfinished quilt sitting in the cupboard awaiting free motion and I think I have overcome my fear of zips, I am yet to try a buttonhole!
ReplyDeleteI want to try to make ruffles but have been scared to! Congratulations - your ruffles look great!
ReplyDeleteLove this collection of fabrics. I have many sewing skills I'd like to conquer but machine quilting and curves are two that are at the top.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric and the ruffles! I am working on my applique sewing with my machine!
ReplyDeleteI need to complete baby project before they outgrow it and then have to restart for the next grandchild of that gender.
ReplyDeleteNot exactly sewing but I'm in the middle of a screenprinting course and loving every minute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway!
What a cute collection, and a perfect use for the print. She's adorable! I'm working on my FMQ skills. It's getting better.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ruffles, olive ostrich and baby! Apart from ruffles, which I have never tried, I'd like to conquer FMQ - or at least improve so that it is fit to be seen in public.
ReplyDeleteI have been making a lot of aprons this summer and I thought that I had mastered in the Greist binder. It is an old presser foot. It works great for me on the small stuff like pockets. But the big stuff...whoa, I spent four hours ripping out the binding on an apron. Never again. I am backing them instead.
ReplyDeleteI love all your fabrics! I've been working on quilting. I've almost convinced myself to jump into attempting to FMQ an actual quilt. I'll probably chicken out at the last minute, but you never know.
ReplyDeleteI've recently conquered my fear of serging!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on my FMQ skills. They are getting better, but I have 3 queen size quilts ready to work on. This will be the first time trying to quilt something this large on my home machine. Cute outfit! I have a 5 month old granddaughter who would look cute in that outfit. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteCute fabric! I have finally managed to put the binding on all of my quilts neatly! Took a couple of tries but now I can do it like a pro!(Patting myself on the back! :-))
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a stitchery quilt :)
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of your whimsical fabric! I recently conquered machine quilting on my not longarm machine. I can truly say I enjoy it now so much! I would love to make an adorable baby quilt with this line.
ReplyDeleteFor me it was quilting! I had never done it before, so it was a new skill I have taught myself.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric!
Just what I want to do with this! I conquered the buttonholes on my new machine before my guide classes. Think I had an angel that day???
ReplyDeleteThese new prints are beautiful and do is the little model! My sister is due with her first baby (a girl) in December and this little outfit would be perfect. But what I'd really love to learn how to make is a quilt! Thanks for sharing a sneak peak of fabric to come!
ReplyDeleteI am currently working on my meandering skills on my home machine. This is a great line that would make some awesome things for my niece
ReplyDeletecute little oufit for a sweet little cutie! i'm going to do hexies, too; i've pulled the fabrics and have the stuff for epp, so i'm ready to cut and proceed. english paper piecing is my new technique to do. wouldn't 'olive the ostrich' make a pretty little hexie quilt for a little girl?
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous fabric! So sweet. Recently I've been working on patchwork stars, and trying to get the points right...
ReplyDeleteI made hexies a couple of weeks ago. Surprisingly, they were not as hard as I had envisioned.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric! I just learned how to free-motion quilt.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with this fabric.
ReplyDeleteI finally conquered Storm at Sea paper pieced blocks! (After putting them together backwards....twice)
Sooo cute! Love it! Just learned shirring and am getting ready to make my first rag quilt. :)
ReplyDeleteI am feeling more confident of my FMQ and branching out into other patterns. The ostriches and the baby are both really cute!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to fmq but I just cant seem to get my hands and head to work at the same time. ksanderson@hotmail.ca
ReplyDeleteLovely fabric! It would make beautiful twirly skirts.
ReplyDeleteI recently learned to sew welt pockets. Definitely worth the effort.
I'm working on becoming comfortable with foundation paper piecing. It's not quick, but very precise. It does take some thinking and concentration though.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! Our first granddaughter is due in November - I can't wait to sew fun outfits for her!! I'm still trying to master mitered joining on my binding - I can do it just fine for the length but it's that last little joint as I finish that still has me stumped!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteI have just mastered the Y-seam, now the world is my weird-angled oyster!
Ella is absolutely gorgeous! Such a sweet face :) I've recently been gaining experience in the use of bias binding. I've got a kaleidoscope quilt with zigzag edges, and a double wedding ring with scalloped edges that will be a real test to making the bias work for me, lol! Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeletewho knew ostriches could be so cute? I love these fabrics and you couldn't have found a cuter model than Ella! I want to improve my zipper insertion skills and would love to make a zippered pouch with this fabric. This collection is a winner!
ReplyDeleteAdorable outfit and fabric! I would like to try out pintucks. I have seen some cute girls dresses in catalogs for the fall season and would like to try to make my own version. Have a good weekend and thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job and the Ella outfit! I recently learned how to make HST - half square triangles! Its been fun! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've just mastered FMQ and am now planning a quilt for our bed (a King Size)and this range fits in perfectly with the colour scheme I have chosen.
ReplyDeleteLove the ostriches! I would love to be able to put in a trouser zip!
ReplyDeleteLinda on travjonuk@yahoo.com
Those bloomers are adorable. Love the berry basket, too. I have many skills to master yet. I'm getting a little better at putting in bust darts. I really want to try sewing in a zipper soon, too.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to make clothes for myself. I have been having a hard time buying clothes that fit the way I would like.
ReplyDeleteI would love to master the skill of actually taking my sewing machine out of its case and sitting down to SEW!
ReplyDeleteAdorable fabric (and model!)
I'm currently working on FMQ; still needs a lot of practice.
ReplyDeleteElla is adorable in her Olive outfit! I just completed my first machine applique block, so I'm pretty excited about it. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI'mn overcoming my fear of FMQ and am getting much better. I still have a long way to go, but have learned how to best set my machine up and which threads to use that will yield better results.
ReplyDeleteI've learned to use giant size pieces of fabric in a quilt,,,I finally know what I do best with quilting--at least for now. The ostrich material would inspire another outrageous quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely outfit! I'd like to improve my skills with sewing zippers in.
ReplyDeleteElla is just precious in her cute little ostrich outfit! :-) I want to learn to machine quilt. I have quite a stack of quilt tops that need to be finished... and I just keep putting it off. If I could machine quilt, I think that I would enjoy working on that stack of tops! :-) Thank you for the chance to win some of this adorable fabric! If I win, I think that I'd have to make something for my little granddaughter-- who LOVES birds! :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! Would love to win!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win some of the Olive fabrics. So cute! I have recently conquered zippers. After installing 8 in pillow covers and pouches, I am almost confident.
ReplyDeleteStraight line quilting, but only on small quilts, and yes, that is one adorable little girl!
ReplyDeleteHow precious! And love the material too. I am working on improving my making of a perfect HST. I need them to line up perfectly etc. when in a row....need more practice. Love making little quilts lately....
ReplyDeleteElla seems very pleased with her new outfit. The ruffles are adorable. I'm not familiar with the twine and zig zag method. I'll have to check that out.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to conquer FMQ without much success. but I am determined to get it right.
so stinking cute!! i just mastered serging - which took a while! scg00387 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, I love this. To me it screams, "Make me into a Valentine's quilt!". Oh, I am supposred to say what skills I am working on.....curved piecing and fmq.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the cute fabric, cute baby and cute outfit. Love your stuff!
The hearts on the selvage make for such a nice touch. Luv the model, she's too cute. I'm pretty cozy with chain piecing and would love to master FMQ.
ReplyDeleteJust learned how to accurately sew darts! I was dreading it, but it wasn't bad at all! Thanks so much for the giveaway! The ostriches are darling!

ReplyDeleteFree motion quilting, really need more practise.

ReplyDeleteAdorable model and collection, so cute.
ReplyDeleteI' ve been making pajama pants for myself and my boys after a tutorial from hello beautiful. great.
I would like to conquer piping and overcome my fear of buttonholes.
ReplyDeleteThis is such pretty fabric. Would you believe there is a garden nearby where 2 of them live, they are still babies but we like to go and look at them through the fence.
ReplyDeleteI could have such fun with this fabric, thank you for the giveaway. I have been sewing for less than a year and still learning lots of things, but I have to say that zips terrify me.
ks(dot)eyles(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk
What a darling outfit - great job!!! Love, love this line, seriously. And of late I've started making hexi's AND mastered curves - just finished my Retro Flowers quilt. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks ? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie pie especially in that outfit. I am stiil learning/recovering about foundation paper piecing. I like the accuracy but my brain wants to work the other way. Perhaps, I had better come up from downunder.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie for the giveaway I love ostriches especially with hearts on the selvage. As I have just learnt one quilter buys fabric just for the selvage.!!
So cute! Yesterday, I was brave and put in a zipper in the back of a pillow. It has a flap that hides it completely. Sew Easy!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is adorable!
ReplyDeleteSewing on elastic is my 'want to conquer'.
I've done everything except heirloom sewing. Cute outfit! I'd love to try it. I even have a similar pattern but haven't had time to sew it yet. I bought some of that Fuse-n-Gather and I'd like to try using that for ruffles.
ReplyDeleteI've done everything except heirloom sewing. Cute outfit! I'd love to try it. I even have a similar pattern but haven't had time to sew it yet. I bought some of that Fuse-n-Gather and I'd like to try using that for ruffles.
ReplyDeleteHard to say which is cuter: the baby or the outfit!
ReplyDeleteI've pieced a number of quilt tops over the years, but have usually had them quilted professionally. However, last week I actually quilted one on my sewing machine - it turned out to be much more fun and less stressful than I'd expected!
same as you! Ruffles!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband just bought me a new sewing machine with all sorts of bells and whistles. I had it picked out for 8 years. Now I need to conquer machine quilting!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching an online tutorial I'm working on a Dresden plate quilt, this is something I've wanted to do for a while. I love the fabric and the outfit you made! Thanks for the giveawy!
ReplyDeleteI'm learning how to make quick pieced square in a square blocks by sewing strips together and then slicing them up sewing again etc etc . My mum taught me this about 20 years ago and now I'm trying to figure it out again . Would love to know more about your twine / ruffles too . Sound fascinating . I hope I win that gorgeous fabric !
ReplyDeleteI am finishing a t-shirt quilt for my son to take to college. He has requested minky dot for the backing. It is a LARGE throw and minky is so slick! I am going to try using a spray adhesive to baste the layers before quilting. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteWish I had Olive, Jack and Jenny to stand on the corners and hold them in place while I spray! LOL
I love this fabric!! I would like to learn how to make quilting (I'm newbie on sewing!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win! Love from Argentina....
Love this fabric i piece and quilt by hand and would love to conquer my reluctance to piece quilt tops on a machine babscorbitt@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteYour model is adorable and her outfit is so cute! I recently taught myself to do needle turned applique. I am keeping my eye out for another project where I can do some more.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. Almost makes me wish I had a baby. Almost!
ReplyDeleteI've recently conquered equilateral triangles :o)
ReplyDeleteI just purchased my second Bernina walking foot! It is fantastic! I am now able to happily use stright line quilting to quilt my quilts. It was long overdue...no puckers or stretching. It just lays flat and the guide helps me place my lines super straight! Thanks for the cute inspiration and giveaway!
ReplyDeletemcantril@kc.rr.com
Ella is so cute in that outfit. The Olive the Ostrich fabric would look great in an outfit for my little grandaughter and it's about time I started sewing garments again i made all my daughters dresses when they were little but haven't made any little girls things for a long while.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cite inspiration to get sewing again and the giveaway.
You did a great job on the outfit and your model is adorable. I love Olive the Ostrich fabric and would love to have some. I have a few baby things I need to make! I am try to do some applique lately and the fear of messing up really henders me. But I am pushing through it and just making practice pieces before then doing the actual project. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway. I truly hope I win!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I'm working on making myself finish my current projects before starting a new one.
ReplyDeleteoh Laurie - this is absolutely adorable!!! I have a new niece that is 4 months old and she would be adorable in this too!! I am trying to conquer / take the leap into foundation piecing and piecing with embroidery designs / stitching in the middle - i just love how they both look! I would also like to master the ruffle!! I think a ruffily (sp?) pillow out of this fabric for valentines day pillows would be so fun!!
ReplyDeleteIt had been ages since I installed a zipper and I recently re-learned that skill. Adorable fabrics, thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteLove anything ostrich! My latest sewing conquest is the invisible zipper which I'm thrilled with. The invis. zipper foot makes it super easy.
ReplyDeleteWhat little one wouldn't love this outfit, adorable! I would love to learn about my serger. I purchased one three months ago, read a ton of books, but am still not sure I have even threaded it correctly. It can do so many things, and I want to learn all of them.
ReplyDeleteThank for this opportunity
I would love to win this fabric as I just found out my daughter is pregnant with my first grandchild! I have not sewn childrens clothing for many years so I plan to get reaquainted with clothing construction at the baby level. This lovely fabric will help me over the hurdle.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
What a sweet little outfit and adorable model!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to conquer adding zippers to projects. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I'm working on learning paper piecing - so fun!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit and model are just too cute! I love Olive!!
ReplyDeleteI recently conquered curves-don't love them but I can do them. Love the outfit & it will be too small for her before you know it! Love the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI am going to get brave and do some curved piecing! Sweet collection!
ReplyDeleteThat is just darling. I would like to make one just like it for my 4 month old granddaughter! I am still working on perfecting putting on binding and free motion quilting.
ReplyDeleteMy new sewing adventure was to make my first snowball blocks for a baby quilt. I would love to make a ruffly outfit with those lovely ostriches for my grandniece (her father, my nephew, once had ostriches as pets though were rather mean). Thanks for the chance, and the sneak peek at your sewing project.
ReplyDeleteI'm cutting out and trying my hand at my first Pinwheel quilt! Hope to set it all on point with modern looking white strips between the purple/aqua-teal/lime blocks from a combo of prints and solids.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been sewing for some time. But my small pillows keep disappearing every time the grandchildren visit.. so I went to make some envelope covers for pillows for them, and realized I have totally forgotten how to make them! So I guess that is the next thing I need to conquer, so I can make them each their own little pillows to take home. plus I am hoping to make some mini quilted throws also. great new line!
ReplyDeleteCathy B*****y pbprojecthope at yahoo dot com
I recently learned how to do simple bias to a project. So happy to learn how to do it. The fabrics are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI am certain that each design you produce is my favorite ... and then you go and create something else wonderful. Olive is simply adorable!
ReplyDeleteMy latest sewing skill seems to be determination. I just completed 12 box bags (zippers and all) for my knitting group to use as project bags. Since most of us are working on the same pattern during the Olympics, I made the bags out of Next Stop London. Finished just in time to hand them out at our cast-on party!
My plan is to learn fabric painting. soparkaveataoldotcom
ReplyDeleteVery cute fabric and even cuter baby! I have some adorable great-nieces who would love dresses from that fabric! New skill - hand quilting. I'm getting the idea of it, little by little.

I recently took a long arm quilting class at a LQS and LOVED it! Would love to have my own machine...maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteSlowly conquering my FMQ skills! Thanks for the giveaway- this is amazing fabric- not sure when we will see it in Australia?
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so adorable! I must practice my ruffle skills, now that I have conquered my fear of zippers :)
ReplyDeleteRuffles. I have done them years ago, but i am putting off making some lovely ruffle skirts simply because of the ruffles. It could also be because of the price of buying a ruffle for my machine, which means I am going to be doing them by hand for a while....
ReplyDeleteAs always Lauris, another stunning fabric line, WOW!
Oh my goodness, these are just so adorable! Love love everything. I would love to make my baby girl some cute outfits with this xx
ReplyDeleteTOO CUTE! I recently learned about (and how to) sewing with a walking foot. It is SO AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI'm embarrassed to admit it but I have been slowly learning to quilt and have 5 unquilted tops that I think are beautiful but I'm afraid I'll wreck them with crummy beginner quilting. One of them is a baby quilt for a co-worker's son who just turned one. I really should just give myself permission to try...
ReplyDeleteI'm learning to do embroidery - words on fabric - for a swap I'm in and my secret partner loves embroidery. So far it's going ok!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the hearts on the selvege and love how cute your mode is!!!! Fingers crossed I can win some of your yummy fabric!!!
I just mastered a iPad cover using my own pattern and it seems to be working although I think I need more padding :)

ReplyDeletesusiebatchelor@talktalk.net
Fabulous fabric and an adorable model :)
ReplyDeleteI have recently conquered (well almost) paper piecing. It was so hard at the beginning but now, thanks to a paper piecing bee I am in, I am much more confident I hope it lasts
The outfit and the baby are both adorable. Nice job. I just learned how to do shirring. It was not as hard as I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteThis is your cutest fabric yet! I have recently mastered needle turn applique!
ReplyDeleteI have been doing some altering for my daughter. That is something I was always scared of!
ReplyDeleteI just love ostriches! So I don't know if I'd say conquered, but I learned how to do english paper piecing recently and I really think it's fun and versatile, so I'm going to keep practicing.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE ostriches!!! So cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd I recently mastered putting a zipper into a bag. : )
Olive is gorgeous. I'd most like to be able to master free motion quilting. any machine quilting really, currently i only hand quilt, and I reckon I could get a lot more done it i did it by machine.
ReplyDeleteI started making peg doll clothes, and since then have sewn for myself, my children and now grandchildren. I have become smitten with the beautiful range of cotton fabrics now being produced, like these Ostriches, and my fingers itch in anticipation of sewing them.
ReplyDeleteOlive is the neatest!!!
ReplyDeleteI have recently learned to finish my bindings with the seam that looks just like the bias seams. Finally!!
I recently learned a new way to applique, there are so many!! Love Olive too.
ReplyDeleteLove the little outfit with your fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI need to learn to free motion quilt.

Love the whole line of fabrics....but especially the
ReplyDeleteostrich fabric with the little hearts....so dear. And the
outfit you created is beautiful (so is the model ) !
The latest technique I've learned ? Well I put aside
my quilting to make my dog some jazzy new collars...
I recycled the hardware from two old collars...the first
one I used some Kaffe Fassett fabric & the second I'm
recycling an old Guatemalan belt of mine. Now it's
back to quilting !
What fun fabrics- I do love the pink ostrich- Thanks for chance to win such cuteness( though it is not as cute as that beautiful baby )
ReplyDeleteI have been getting some quilting done so that is the main thing- got a couple of quilts cut one and one almost sewn together. Progress is a wonderful thing..
Warmest regards,
Anna
Your fabrics never fail to bring a smile! I currently afraid of the zipper. Big plans to make a zipper pouch and conquer those fears. We shall see!
ReplyDeleteI love love love this fabric. I've been wanting to sew clothes. Up until now I've only quilted.
ReplyDeleteMy latest conquest was improv chevrons, a la Gwen Marsten. I'm just glad it worked out on my first go-around--I used Mendocino!!
ReplyDeleteKnits scare the bejesus out of me but i want to try.

Ella is so beautiful! And it's always better to have the outfit a bit bigger rather than too little! ;-) She's SO pretty! And looks like she loves her new little outfit too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win - CUTE as can be!

Oops - I was (as always) in a hurry and forgot to tell you my latest accomplishment ... well - I made a stack n whack. I guess I should say I am "making" the stack n whack - I have the "wheels" cut and sewn - now to add the triangles and sashing.
ReplyDeleteOne of those would be cute for a baby - Keep those eye's moving all over to interesting patterns and designs.
Fun!
