Modern Holiday Blog Tour and Giveaway

As a fabric designer, it is such an amazing feeling to see your fabric made up into projects that people have put so much love and time into. When Amanda Murphy contacted me last year about possibly using my Brr! collection in a quilt she was working on for her new book, I was absolutely over the moon. And today, I'm happy to be sharing some sneak peeks from Amanda new book Modern Holiday: Deck the Halls with 18 Sewing Projects Quilts, Stockings, Decorations & More. 

The book is filled with beautiful projects and some really fun embellishing approaches. My favorite is the Brr! quilt... (No shocker there!) but I'm itching to try some of the other projects too.

The stockings are definitely on my list! I would love to make them up using my new Holiday Sweet Tweets. I'm especially fond of the 1st two stockings and see loads of fun possibilities fussy cutting some chairs and tweets. :)

 To prep for the holidays around here, I'm getting ready to start on some new pillow panels for my Etsy store. Remember these guys? I was thinking of bring them back and I'm hoping for a few fun new designs as well...I'll just have to see how well the creative juices flow! Any requests?!

    I love to make origami ornaments - it's all hand sewing and a nice portable project. They come in handy as a small gift or decoration on a package.

    Every year I make a lap quilt and use them as the main decorations. Less lugging out of boxes and I love the look of them.

    Amanda is so talented. Her new book looks awesome. That label is too cute!
    One of my favorite things to sew at Christmas are ornaments. Pot holders are always fun too.
    That polar bear fabric would be really cute in a table runner.

    My favorite holiday sewing project is a new grandbaby Christmas stocking. I'm finishing up two more - that will be a total of 9 grandkids' stockings. I do love to make gifts for Christmas.

    My favorite thing to sew for the holidays is gifts. I try make (aka sew) most of the Christmas gifts I give each year. Sometimes that could be a quilt or runner, or even bag or doll.

    My favorite Christmas sewing project is making Christmas tree skirts. I've made patchwork, log cabin diamonds, and more. Very enjoyable to make, and very well received by the person I gifted them to. Right now, I'm working on some simple Christmas lap-sized quilts.

    Every year it changes for me, I don't tend to make the same things twice for the holidays, but I will say a tree skirt I made a few years back is probably my favorite!

    Last year it was stockings for my two children, this year it will be a festive rag wreath and advent bunting! I also make bags, so folk will be getting bags of all shapes and sizes for Christmas!
