First, thank you all so much for your very thoughtful and sweet notes on my last post. They were really wonderful companions and will be terribly missed. I'm still a pretty big weepy mess but each day will get a bit easier. All of the personal stories you shared, good thoughts and prayers you sent my way are really tremendously kind. Thank you.
Let's get to that giveaway now! As you all know, my second line with Robert Kaufman called Urban Circus is coming out soon. It will start shipping in August which is just around the corner! I can hardly believe it... I think it's a bright and cheery line and I see so many possibilities for cute projects! Quilts, pillows, pjs, bags, clothes for the kiddos, clothes for big people (I would love a skirt from the elephants...).
I whipped up a picnic quilt a few weeks ago that I just love. The quilt pattern is from Erin at House on the Hill Road and it has little pockets on the back of each corner so you can tuck a rock in each corner to keep your quilt from blowing away. It's hand tied and with the big 16x16 squares it came together in an evening. I just backed it with a simple bed sheet so I didn't have to mess with piecing the back.
Here's the details on the giveaway. Good luck!!
-I'd love to hear what projects you'd make with Urban Circus
-Two lucky winners will each get FQ packs with both Spring and Earth color ways
-I'll draw the winners this Sunday AM, 7/10
Urban Circus in Spring
Urban Circus in Earth
A quick update and another fabric giveaway! After you leave your comment here, make sure you go visit my pal Sam's blog, Mummysam. She's got a new line coming out with Robert Kaufman in the same time frame and you will LOVE her fabric!
We are having a baby in February so I would most definitely be making something baby-related! I'm thinking carseat cover, burp cloths, and pieces to a stroller quilt... but I could easily change my mind to a block toy or a pair of cute little pants! Love the pink elephants!
ReplyDeletei'm so excited for your new line, love the prints, the animals, and the colours! they are perfect for kids' projects - clothes, backpacks, quilts and pillows! thanks so much for the giveaway and congratulations again on your new line!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I would cut off the selvages and make something super special with them. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd then, hmmmm, I would look at them for a really long time and just savor all the artistry.
And then I would gather up the courage to actually cut into them and make a little throw for each of my grandchildren to enjoy while reading books.
Love the new colors for these fun prints, they will be so great for baby quilts. Thank you for the giveaway!

Super cute picnic blanket! I'd love to make one of those, we don't have a picnic blanket and I think that is sorely lacking on my part. I have several baby quilts to make this summer (another round of friend babies!) and I think the earth line would be great for a boy without being babyish at all, as would the spring line for a girl. And I'd love a skirt made with those elephants too!
ReplyDeleteSpring colors will be a pinafore for niece aged 18 months and earth colors will be a shirt for my nephew aged 6 months!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm lucky number one!
ReplyDeleteBaby quilt! Hopefully I'll be pregnant again by the end of the summer, and once we find out what we're having, I'll go ahead and make the quilt!
(PS: pop over to my blog, I came up with an awesome binding calculator that all of you quilters should be interested in)
I see lots of baby quilts! Those giraffes and elephants are just too cute and in colorways for both boys and girls!
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering a great giveaway!
Leslie

we could use some new placemats and napkins. i love the cheeriness of this line - would be perfect on our bright white kitchen table. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother baby quilt here or maybe some little baby shorts! My brother and SIL are expecting a new little one, and this would be so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI'd love the earth fabrics to make a baby quilt for my newest nephew due in a couple months.
ReplyDeleteA baby blanket would be awesome with these. Thanks for the giveaway.

I have a friend who has been begging me to track down some Urban Circus in Earth ever since I showed it to her so I can make a fabulous throw pillow with it for her living room. She LOVES the elephants and bright colors!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love them!! I need (would love) to make a picnic blanket/quilt with them!
ReplyDeleteMy first grandchild is due in October - a boy! I would love the Urban Circus in Earth to make him some cushions for a rocking chair and floor cushions!
ReplyDeletehow generous of you!!! With Spring, I'd definitely make some of my go-to purses, Made By Rae's ButterCup Bag. I think it would look amazing in the pink ele's lined with the yellow dot!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a bunch of boxy pouches, so I can spread the love around, though I'd be sorely tempted to make a quilt and keep it!
ReplyDeleteI think a baby quilt for my husband's friend who is having his first baby this December. I want to find really cute, adorably delicious fabric for their quilt and this just might have to be it!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd make a quilt of course! And I'd definitely fussy cut some of the animals and applique them on some shirts for my son.
ReplyDeleteP.S. So sorry to hear about your pup!
I see kids quilts! Happy smiling kids quilts :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, would LOVE some of this gorgeous fabric;) I've made a couple pair of the pants in Anna Marie Horner's Handmade Beginnings book - using some of my pieces of Heather Ross lightening bugs fabric on the little piece on the bum of pants - so cute!! Would just love to make my boy some with those little elephants on the bum - so so cute!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your Urban Circus!
ReplyDeleteI think something fun for my nieces (5yo & 1yo) would definitely be in order. Maybe a doll quilt for the 5yo and a playmat for the 1yo? The 5yo starts kindergarten in the fall so a cute pencil pouch would definitely be in order!
Cute Cute fabric! I would for sure make a baby quilt and I think bumper pads would be great also! Thank you for the chance to win some of your fun fabric and for your creativity.
ReplyDeleteI for sure would be making some baby items....bed skirt some window coverings etc. I have no idea yet but maybe even a matching quilt. I would be so excited to win and if nothing else I am so excited to buy the fabrics when they are out.
ReplyDeletethese are amazing...thanks for the giveaway. i would likely use it fir a quilt...maybe for our new baby
ReplyDeleteI love it all, but don't know exactly what I'd make with it just now. Something grand, of course, when inspiration hit.
ReplyDeleteOh fun fun fun!! You know I'm thinking some softy jingle blocks would be SO fun with this fabric! My son would love them! Also I have a sister and sister in law both having babies at the end of the year...there will be lots of quilting to do!
ReplyDeleteI really love this line of fabric. I would love to make a baby blanket with this fabric. It is so bright and fun and would make a perfect baby blanket.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend is having a baby next month so I would make an adorable quilt for her coming little one! Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteFirst I'd use some in clothing for my granddaughters-how I love the pink elephants. Then I would have the scraps-probably a lot because I always buy extra yardage that would be perfect for quilts. My granddaughters get a huge kick out of seeing fabric from a dress or top in a quilt-they can't outgrow the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI would probably make a skirt for my daughter. What fun fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love these! First, I would design 3 unique baby blankets. (I would have to decide which fabric I wanted more of for each back and get it ordered). I would save some fussy cuts for 3 wall hangings designed in the style of "Don't Look Now" and her Rocket pillow tutorial. One of the blankets and wall hangings would go to each of my three children for their first child, (which means one would get one for a 1st birthday). :) If I could save even one scrap for each family, I would put it on the front of a onesie or a bib or even a cute bag. :) Oh what fun I would have!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI see baby quilts, baby dresses, even some little boy shirts and pants, and a skirt for me! Wow, I'm going to need a lot of this fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors. You are amazing and so talented!
Thank you for making my day just by showing some fun fabric that made me smile (that's how I know I need it in clothes I will wear, it will make me happy)
These are great. I am going to make a crossover quilt for my daughters bed.
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance
lbroadstreet@tds.net
hmm...I would likely make a doll quilt for my girls or a stuffed toy. I am dabbling in stuffed toys lately :) I have tufted tweets..it's waiting for the perfect pattern or idea to come to me...soon I hope.
ReplyDeleteI would make a quilt for my friend who's expecting a baby. They've been trying for quite some time to get pregnant with child #2 and she's expecting in January! I love both color ways but because I'm a mom to 2 boys, the Earth fabrics really call my name!
ReplyDeleteWe have a new baby arriving in the family in January. This would be perfect for a baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteI think I might redo the room my granddaughter uses in my house with curtains, pillows, and a quilt! Or maybe some clothes for her.... or trim some for me! Or all of the above! A fat quarter pack is a wealth of riches!! PS Love that picnic blanket! What a great idea to put rocks in the corner pockets!!
ReplyDeleteI would certainly make a quilt which would then be snorkeled away for the birth of my first niece or nephew (fairly soon hopefully! woot woot).I really like the simple design of the quilt you have featured. It really highlights the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteIf I have any left over i would make a stuffed giraffe with the giraffe prints.

ReplyDeleteLet me add my condolences about your pets. I know how much they must have meant to you. *hugs*
I would love to make a twin quilt for my nephew!
ReplyDeleteI am always making gifts, but I think I would be a bit selfish with this fabric because I am a bit of an elephant freak!! I LOVE elephants...I think a little summer bag is in order with the Spring collection and I would use the Earth colletion (along with some solids that match) to make a little patchwork picnic blanket. I need a new one, and one with elephants on it would be just perfect!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway! I'd love to make a baby quilt with this fabric.
ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are so dreamy! I am thinking of making a great twirly skirt for my daughter, who has her own great style!
ReplyDeletethese fabrics would be so cute for a kid's summer hat, or maybe a dress, or shorts. So cute! I would love to have these to use!
ReplyDeleteA friend has decorated her daughter's room in a girly jungle theme, so I think I'd probably make something for her room. A wall hanging, like maybe a collage of different sized canvases covered with the Urban Circus fabrics.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, really!
I'm in the LA Modern Quilt Guild, and we had our meeting last night. Leslie shared how wonderful it was to meet you in Austin, and there were 8 very happy people after the giveaway. It was great to see all the fabrics live and in person. Thanks!

Oh, I'd make a patchwork quilt for my friends little one and a patchwork skirt for my daughter!

ReplyDeleteI would like to make a disappearing 9 patch with those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI'd most definitely use the fabrics to make a quilt...maybe a baby version of my Euclid quilt!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabric Laurie! Ofcourse I'd make a quilt. But I'd also make some little bibs - they would make the cutest bibs (not sure if I'd let my kids wear them while eating - they might get food on them!)
ReplyDeleteCute fabric! And actually - I think i would make a picnic blanket with them. I love picnics and when my kids were small, we used to go on picnics all the time. I really miss doing that with them!
ReplyDeleteI just found out last week that I am expecting my first Grandchild. I think this fabric would be perfect for a baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a skirt! I think I'd make a skirt from that adorable giraffe print.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute picnic blanket! This prints are fun to use for just about anything. :)
So cute! I'd definitely make a quilt (or three...) in a simple pattern to let the adorable fabric steal the show. I'd love to make an apron too. Really the possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, I want to make a tote using the Giraffes in Earth as the focus fabric!! Then a Spring Elephants pillowcase or two :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric, thanks for the give away. I would make pillow cases for all my great nieces and nephew for Christmas presents. They are all just the perfect ages to enjoy Urban Circus.

ReplyDeleteI think I'd make a little dress for my hairdresser's new little girl with the spring colors. And then with the other I'd make summer shorts and an appliqued t-shirt for my son. I'd probably have enough to also do some pants of some variety. Maybe a cute pocket on a pair of denim pants to go with the shirt!
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a dress for my daughter!
ReplyDeleteThey will be lovely as giant pockets on kid's apron!
ReplyDeleteI would like to make baby bibs out of the spring urban circus! I can also see a cute quilt!
ReplyDeleteLovely matching aprons for mummy and son while he helps me in the kitchen. Or a super cute, bright quilt for next baby due in August. Of course I will have to rope in one of my more crafty friends to whip these up for me. I'll supply the vino.
ReplyDeletethe prints look fun :D i'd like to use it to make some projects in "sew darn cute", or the apron on the cover of "sew so cute".
ReplyDeleteThis would make some awesome pillows. I like it!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Adorable fabric!!! I would make a quilt for my niece-I think the Wonkey Donkey quilt pattern would be cute using Urban Circus fabric.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Such darling fabric! I can see some baby bibs, a quilt (of course!), anything would be nice as long as it was cut to showcase the cuteness!
ReplyDeleteOh my. The colors are fantastic! My little boys need some new summer shorts. These prints would be perfect for that.
ReplyDeleteHmm, quite honestly I'm not quite sure what I would do with them -- pillows, curtains, frames, a quick quilt? I'm in the process of updating two of the boys' rooms and I'm sure it would be put to good use in those spaces.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much only make pillows and blankets because they're easy, but these adorable prints would be great for patchwork apron.
ReplyDeleteI would make a hanging pocket for my double stroller, one that holds my keys phone and other important things inside, these prints would go great with the stroller colors!
ReplyDeleteI would make a couple of pillows for my daughter's very first apartment. She is still in school (UC Berkeley) and finally has a very small place (It's really a rented room) of her own. I just love your fabric. The colors are just beautiful. Thanks for the chance.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a skirt. I think the giraffes would make a fun skirt as well as the elephants. They would also make some cute kids clothes. My real love is quilts though and it would probably all be used in a fun quilt before I ever got around to clothing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Such great fabric, as usual! Too many cute ideas to make it would be hard to choose. I would certainly use every bit of the fabric, right down to any scraps leftover from projects and also the selvages. I'd make a bag, a wallet, a skirt, a headband, table runner, pillows, doggie beds, and of course a few quilts and wall hangings. Thanks for being so generous and doing another giveaway.

ReplyDeletei just found your blog (and fabric!) this morning while searching for a yoga mat bag. I LOVE your fabric! I think urban circus would make a really cute bunting for my toddler's room. it would also make cute needle case covers, fabric keepsake envelopes, wall pockets. i'm in love *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI love all of these fabrics. I think lunch bags would be a great idea.

ReplyDeleteWould love that fabric. Such a good play on colour. I think some shopping totes and place mats for the grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteThank you

This is such great fabric... I love when I find fabric that is cool enough for boy stuff and still sweet enough for girls. I have two boys and am getting the itch to add to my brood, so all I can think about sewing lately is baby stuff... like bibs, super cool burp rags, a diaper bag, maybe some giraffe appliques on a little newborn onesie and about a million other little baby accessories. Of course, I don't want to jinx anything by sewing baby girl stuff so this fabric is perfect. I can make boy stuff (and secretly imagine how it might look for a little girl... maybe?)
ReplyDeleteAm I too late? I would totally use the fabric to make an awesome quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a really cute group of fabrics you have designed. If I could win, I would make a twin sized quilt to put on the bed my grandkids sleep in when they sleepover. It would be a big hit!

ReplyDeleteOh wow! I didn't know I could love those prints even more than I did before. I am crazy for the new colourways! I am a nanny to an adorable set of twins (boy and a girl) and I would love to be able to make them matching big boy and big girl quilts for their beds.
