Polar Bear Peek-a-Boo Bin | Giveaway!

One of the most fantastic parts of having this blog, my Flickr group and my Etsy store has been all of the wonderful people from all over the world that I've been able to e-meet and get to know. What an amazing community out there and I'm so glad you keep writing and visiting.

One of the great people I've gotten to know, is Lesley Stenning over at Smidgebox Designs. Over the holidays we decided to collaborate and I asked Lesley if she would make me a few of her adorable peek-a-boo storage bins using my Polar Bear fabrics. I just adore Lesley's finishing technique and couldn't wait to see little polar bears peeking through. Well, of course I was hoping they would be really cute, but instead they are beyond adorable. Lesley made me 2 (which are already hard at work here at my house). Don't you love them?!?

And the surprise is that we have one of these cute fabric storage bins that Lesley and I are giving away! To enter to win, just leave a comment here on my blog and tell me about something fun you collaborated on (or would like to!). I'll randomly draw a winner after 8am CT on Saturday Feb. 5, 2011. Make sure you leave a way for me to contact you!

Here's details on the little cutie that could be coming to live with you soon:

5" square, 5" high [12.5 cm]
rustic linen + cotton
interfaced for structure, but not stiff
This little storage bin would be equally at home in a child's room or your home office. Round up bits of this + that, anything from paperclips to post-it notes, hairbands and accessories!

Once you've registered to win, make sure you head over to Lesley's store and her blog to peruse her other lovely goodies.

Good luck!

I am in the midst of collaborating on some round robin quilts that will be donated to raise money for an orgnization that helps women and children in Haiti. It is superexciting to see what the other three amazing crafters are coming up with.

I love the Polar bear fabric.

Those are so cute! Would look great in my grandson's nursery! And colloborate with someone? My creativity is slim and none but I'm working on finding it!

Oh, so in love! I just love the polar bears. Can you believe I'd forgotten about them? We have our first baby due in August and I've been trolling fabric but not finding something awesome... I think the polar bears might do it.

While I'd love to use the bin to store baby stuff, I have a sneaking suspicion it would end up being a (pretty awesome) cat bed.

Marisa said...

Oops, forgot the collaborating comment: does it count to be collaborating on nursery stuff with my husband? He likes soft and baby-ish stuff; I'm more of a fan of bright and crazy. We'll see how this ends up.

This is so lovely and I am loving that fabric. My other half is much better with programmes like photoshop than I am and I'm much better at the arty stuff than he is. I've been working on some art work that I hope he'll do the technological stuff for and then I can get the design printed at Spoonflower.

Gorgeous!
I'm collaborating with my daughter at the moment - she tells me what she'd like and I get on and make it!!! Seriously though I'd love to work with Aneela Hooey and then perhaps she'd let me play with her Sherbert Pips!

Really cute!
Well, I haven't really collaborated on any projects, unless you count a Flickr virtual quilting bee. I'm doing one now & it has been fun!

I'm collaborating with a friend to make a purse. And will later do the same with my mother.

What a great catchall for my cutting table !
I collaborate on quilts with my galpal, Jodie, all the time. She sends me the fabrics from Oklahoma, and I piece the top in Tennessee, and send it back for her to quilt.

Way too cute!!! Thanks for the chance. My sister and I are working on an I Spy project for our kiddos . . . it is always fun to have other people involved.

AmandaHall said...

So cute! Does a quilting bee count as collaboration?

Alisa said...

How cute. Love the idea and the fabric. Right now I'm collaborating with a group of people to put on a high school music event. It's been a lot of work, but a lot of fun also. Thanks for the give-away chance.

So cute! It would be cool to join one of those modern quilting bees when I'm a more skilled piecer.

Lovely and fun! I'd really like to collaborate on a fantastic quilt. I have trouble with colors, so someone who can really "see" this would be great for me!

This past year I collaborated with 33 other people from blogland and flickr to make two awesome quilts for my nieces, one of which is 4 yrs old and has been fighting cancer for 3 years. This was the most meaningful project I've ever done. You can check it out here: http://mommysnaptime.blogspot.com/search/label/Rosemarie%27s%20Quilt

Love the bear print. I'm in the process of working with my modern quilt guild to make a charity quilt. It's really fun and rewarding to get everyone involved.

jaime said...

Polar bears! These are so fun. (And one of them would look so nice with all the red accessories in my office.) As for a collaboration...every day of marriage is a collaboration, right? Working together to support, inspire, entertain, and cherish each other--creating one family unit that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Laurie said...

Hmmm... I once collaborated with my guild to make a charity quilt. It came out pretty well. I love those fabric buckets and the fabrics - too cute.

For christmas my friends and I made scarves for our local homeless shelter.

Those are so totally sweet!! For my parents 40th anniversary several years ago, I had all of my siblings, their spouses and the grandkids draw a crayon picture on a 10" square of white cotton which I then pieced into a quilt. That was a great family collaboration! Thanks for sharing your lovely work Laurie and Lesley.

Val Miller said...

so super cute! I just love your fabric, and even more so when they are turned into such a great idea! I have never collaborated on anything ... but I should. Now I just have to find someone who wants too ; )

Melissa said...

Those are really cute little boxes! We just moved, and I could easily put about 10 to use here in the new house! :)
The first (and only?) collaboration I could think of was my LA Modern Quilt Guild wall hanging that I made for another friend in the guild. I asked members to sign strips of fabric, which I then embroidered over, then I pieced them together stacked-books style, made the logo for the top, and gave it to my friend.
I've since moved away from LA, and she will be doing the same, soon, so this was a way for her to take a bit of the LAMQG with her.

Oh my!!!!!!! My eyes bugged out a little when I saw these -- they are perfect! I love this line of yours and have been wanting to get some....although I don't know what I could POSSIBLY make that would be any cuter than these! Definitely heading over to her shop after I leave this comment! I've never collaborated on anything sewing-wise, but I've had the fortune of being in bands with two of my best friends over the years -- I'll always treasure the songs we wrote together.

They are so lovely I've collaborated with a cute bag with my niece so it would turn out right - we each knew a little about the making to make it right :-)

I have worked with the woman who does the machine quilting for me...she is such an artist! Thanks for the giveaway.

I was contacted by a friend I met on Etsy, who asked me if I could screenprint a piece of fabric she could use to make a music bag for her young daughter. I was glad to do it, since she didn't have a screenprinting machine. After she was done, she sent me pictures of the final project and I was so happy I had a part in it!

OMG! That is so cute and I would absolutely die if I won. A friend and I collaborated on Christmas sewing one year. She helped me make the bags I put all my goodies in and I helped her make pj pants. Eventually, she was making pants and I was making bags, but it was so nice to be able to sew with someone and troubleshoot together. Thanks!!

I love smidgebox! I would be so happy to win this! The last thing I collaborated on was. A baby quilt for a friend, it was pretty fun!

I do more bartering rather than colaborating - I like to sew bags and a friend is an amazing fabric wall artist. So I made her a bag and she made me an amazing wall hanging!

Hod did I miss those polar bear fabrics?!? You must have released them when I was in Ethiopia. I'm off to take a better look in your shop ....

And those baskets are so cute!

I've done a lot of collaboration, but I had a lot of fun with a purse project I did with a new line from Jenean Morrison.

I've collaborated by being married! Sometimes it would seem simpler to decorate or garden by just doing things how I want them, but checking in with my husband and listening to his ideas has made the decorating and gardens better for it.

I love Lesley's work - and these polar bears are cute as a button! I had a fun collaboration last year with some bloggy quilt friends, we made a baby quilt for a mutual friend, with 5 of us each contributing our forte (so, I dyed the fabric...)

Mmmm. These bins are a terrific collaboration. Currently, I'm collaborating with my dear friend's seven-year-old. We're making wardrobes for her favorite stuffed animals. She directs and I act - that's how our collaboration works. And I love it.

Love these...especially the last two with blue inside...wink!

I'm currently working on an Alice and Wonderland painting project which I hope to share on my blog soon. Karin

My husband and I recently collaborated with our 3 year old son on making a bed for our son's toy Moose (aka 'Little Moosey'). My husband taught him the basics of carpentry through the construction of a small wooden bed while I took control of the bedding; working with him to make a mattress and pillow (which he stuffed)and personalised quilt on the machine. Little Moosey has never slept so well!
