Urban Circus - Giveaway!

First, thank you all so much for your very thoughtful and sweet notes on my last post. They were really wonderful companions and will be terribly missed. I'm still a pretty big weepy mess but each day will get a bit easier. All of the personal stories you shared, good thoughts and prayers you sent my way are really tremendously kind. Thank you.

Let's get to that giveaway now! As you all know, my second line with Robert Kaufman called Urban Circus is coming out soon. It will start shipping in August which is just around the corner! I can hardly believe it... I think it's a bright and cheery line and I see so many possibilities for cute projects! Quilts, pillows, pjs, bags, clothes for the kiddos, clothes for big people (I would love a skirt from the elephants...).

I whipped up a picnic quilt a few weeks ago that I just love. The quilt pattern is from Erin at House on the Hill Road and it has little pockets on the back of each corner so you can tuck a rock in each corner to keep your quilt from blowing away. It's hand tied and with the big 16x16 squares it came together in an evening. I just backed it with a simple bed sheet so I didn't have to mess with piecing the back.

Here's the details on the giveaway. Good luck!!
-I'd love to hear what projects you'd make with Urban Circus
-Two lucky winners will each get FQ packs with both Spring and Earth color ways
-I'll draw the winners this Sunday AM, 7/10

Urban Circus in Spring

Urban Circus in Earth

A quick update and another fabric giveaway! After you leave your comment here, make sure you go visit my pal Sam's blog, Mummysam. She's got a new line coming out with Robert Kaufman in the same time frame and you will LOVE her fabric!

First item would be a cover for my netbook using the Urban Circus in Earth tones.

Then no doubt a tote to carry books to and from the library

What quirky fabric these two are.

ohhhh...I LOVE the fabric you chose for your quilt...its such a bright and happy print. I've been trying to get pregnant and trying not to get discouraged...month 3 on clomid. So maybe if I win the giveaway I will put together a baby quilt to keep me busy and thinking positive. :)

I already felt like I won the lotto when I heard Robert Kaufman picked up Urban Circus. Let's put the icing on the cake here, pretty please?

Such a no-brainer for me - these fabrics would need to be used in something really lasting - a quilt for sure. Two quilts if I won - one for my girl, and one for my boy!

Oh lordie...these fabrics are TOO cute. In addition to a baby quilt and a wet bag for his swimmies, I can totally see doing up some rompers and/or some jammies for my 4 1/2 mon. old son in the Earth line. I would totally use the Spring one for some pj pants for me!

The Urban Circus in Earth would make a great boy quilt! That is what I would do with it...

Oh, those are cute with all the circus animals !
I like to fussy-cut fabrics like this to make books for my grandbabies, and of course the fabric would wind up in more than one baby quilt.......unless I decided to use it in a couch quilt for myself !

Thanks for letting me enter your giveaway.

I love all your fabrics!! I am patiently awaiting my daughter's arrival (due date tomorrow, so far no sign of her...) and have been sewing away trying to make a cute nursery. The colors of the spring colorway are just what I'm using so it would probably end up in a crib quilt, I also need to make some little fabric boxes for diaper storage etc. Anyway thanks for the great giveaway and keep up the good work, your designs are all darling.

Oh my goodness---this is such a cute line!!! I can see a baby girl quilt in the Spring line and a baby boy quilt in the Earth line! I could also a very cute purse in the Spring line---just way too cute! Thanks for the opportunity! Can't wait to get a hold of some of this new line!

Your fabrics are so great and prompt me to create whimsical quilts. I'm currently making a barn & donkey quilt with the donkeys in boots fabric (have to come up with some clever name as it's going to Ireland).

I think with this fabric I would be tempted to cut out some of the animals and spplique stitch them to white Kona cotton. The colourful animals against white would be striking. As babies don't use pillows, I would also cut out some animals, put them on artist paper, and frame it. Kind of like the butterfly displays many scrapbookers made. I love the 3-D look of the colourful shape raised against white. On the reverse side of the quilt, I would do thin, curvy lines of fabrics on a white field. With my far-away nephews and neices having babies, I send them special quilts so they know I'm thinking of them. This one would be fantastic!

So, fingers crossed! Thanks for the great give-away! Cheers! Kathleen

Beth said...

I am so excited to try my hand at a more "modern" look than I usually seek--I'm thinking of a casual quilt, something to read on outside under the bright blue sky. I would frame your great designs with some Kona cotton in understated colors, and then surround each block with some quiet space, maybe in a khaki or sand or elephant gray.

Thanks for the chance to enter, and for your inspiring fabric and designs.

Am I too late? Would love to win of course! I'd make a cot quilt for a friend having a baby soon!

Chelsea said...

I would make my husband and daughter matching patchwork PJ pants.

jen said...

I'm sure I'm too late for the give away, but I thought I'd jump in with an idea or two...

I'd fussy cut each of the animal prints and try some sort of short brick/long brick type pattern; cut the same amount of short/long blocks out of the dotted patterns, then sash each block with teensy tiny brightly colored solids and join all together, maybe slightly wonky, maybe not.

Then I'd take the left over dotted prints and cover an ottoman, perhaps...Or top off a shower curtain...Or whatever!

Bellgirl said...

They're beautiful, and of course i'd have to make a quilt for my son, who said recently, "I like trains. And...I like animals. I like two things!" The leftovers would become counting beanbags.

I've already sliced into my red Tufted Tweets, they're going to be a set of placemats for moi!

Belinda aka beeware said...

It's beautiful. I think I'd make something for the kids! Either mine or my friends...

The earth colourway is so very perfect for a little boy - hip and modern but still definitely boy-ish. I'd love to make a couple of things for my little guy's room - perhaps cover a lampshade and a couple of throw pillows.

The spring is sweet and pretty, I'd hoard it until the next in our group has a little girl (it's been all boys lately...) then make a pretty modern baby quilt :)

The One and Only said...

They colorways are perfect, one for a boy and one for a girl....I would love to a (don't really know what the name, or correct name) but it's almost like a tumbler but each row is the same color....so please forgive my momnesia....
