Pooches and Pickups - Finally revealed and a Giveaway!

Let me start by apologizing. I didn't mean to torture you with the sneaky peekies! But at long last I can finally share my newest line for Robert Kaufman! Pooches and Pickups is headed out to the sales force today so if you have a store, call your rep and place your order. The fabric will start shipping to stores during April so start planning your sewing projects now. I'm also working on a few projects with the fabric that I'll be sharing over the next few weeks.
Pooches and Pickups is made up of 3 patterns: Big Trucks, Small Trucks and Pooches. It comes in two color stories: Spring (blue and green) and Summer (red and ochre).

A friend of mine came over a few weekend ago to help me snap some pictures of everything and we giggled and gabbed while drinking coffee and setting everything up. Boat loads (or should I say truck loads) of fun! I didn't even plan out that I was wearing my Pooches and Pickups PJ shorts for our photoshoot. And yes, I was still in my PJs for the photoshoot. And yes, that's an old boxspring on my wall...I just adore all the shapes and patterns it makes and turns out its a fabulous prop. :)

Now, for the disclaimer... Do as I say, not as I design. Huh you say? Lemme explain...I designed this fabric as a little tribute to my sweet Clara dog. (It's been a year since she passed away.) And that girl LOVED, LOVED, LOVED riding in my car. Ears flapping and drool flying. But I drive a station wagon (sassy huh?) which frankly didn't make for very cute fabric. So insert vintage pickup truck in place of wagon and I was off to the races. The design became exponentially cuter with the pooch in the back, so into the bed of the truck the pooches went. But it's pretty dangerous for pooches to ride in the back of truck, ya know? So you see my dilema. Do as I say and not as I design. Keep your pooches safe inside your cars or trucks. :)
Now for the free fabric! I'm giving away two FQ packs of Pooches and Pickups to two lucky winners. You know the drill...Leave a comment here on the blog and tell me what you'd like to make (or tell me about your pooch!). I'll use the random number generator to select 2 winners this coming Saturday evening, 4/16/11 at roughly 6pm CT. Good luck and I hope you love the fabric!

My pooch is a Caire Terrier/miniature Poodle mix. He looks like Toto. We always wanted a scruffy dog, we named him, and then went out and found him. He's mama's boy.

What a fun photo shoot. You and your friend did a great job setting everything up.

I think some tote bags for going to the library would be a good project for this amazing fabric.

This is a wonderful design. Now how would i use this - maybe some cushions for my nephew's bedroom, a quilt for his bed and some trousers to wear.

Oh so cute! We are definitely "dog-people" with two Scottish Terriers, Max and Ruby. They love to ride in the minivan and leave their nose prints on the windows! Would love to make a quilt with your fabric!

This fabric is adorable. Wouldn't it make a fun picnic or beach blanket?

I love your new fabrics. I always like the old pickup images and of course, dogs are so much fun too. We just lost our beagle a month ago and miss him very much. I keep expecting him to be waiting for us when we come home.
Your fabric would be great for pajama bottoms. Just so cute.

Great littl/big boy fabrics. A bundle would give me plenty to make a drag-along blankie for both my grandsons - boxie boxes pattern would so compliment these fabrics.

Oh, I would definitely make a quilt for me for when I go to the drive-in movies. I am a pickup woman - my first car was a pickup truck, my last car was a pickup truch (until gas got so high and I had to buy something cheaper to drive). I have a t-shirt that reads - A Woman and Her Truck: A Beautiful Thing (or something like that). And, I have a wonderful yellow lab named Biscuit who adores going for rides in the back of my Subaru Forester, which is what I drive now that I no longer have a truck. So hopeful I'll win, but if not, I'm glad to know I can go out and buy this lovely fabric!

LOVE the designs!!! The pooch design is such a nice tribute to your dog. I can see those cars as a great quilt for a grandson.

Love that Blue Truck Fabric. I'm an old chevy truck lover, actually have a 58 Suburban. My first boyfriend had an old blue (53) pickup like that, ha, what memories. Dad had 3 old Chevy's all Burbs (last one a 58)
Oh, I think I'd have to make a large lap sized quilt to go in my truck...which MR hopes to have on the road by the end of the month (after 2 1/2 years of work) Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm sure I'll cry like a baby, still miss my dad so much.
I'm with you on the dogs in the back of trucks, but I don't even let them stick their heads out of the windows. A bug in the eye or down the throat at 35 or faster can be quite an issue. Right now I'm nursing my 14 1/2 yo Australian Shepherd, Shoeshine, through what I'm sure is the last weeks of our companionship, he's been so awesome. My other dog Tabitha is 10 and a hand-me-down from a friend who had cancer. She is a hug from Cheree every day! I've never been without a dog, except when I lost Tokfia, it took me a year to get over her.

I LOVE all of it! I'm not sure what I'd do with it just yet, so I'll tell you about my dogs :)
I have Teddy and Max. They're shi-poos are our first babies. Spoiled rotten. Such personalities (Teddy is stubborn but will amuse us. Max is a scaredy cat but loves to snuggle.)
My pup Gus passed away about 5 years ago. He actually jumped out the car window so everyone please be careful of open windows too!

what a fun line, and a sweet tribute to your pup! our "puppy" will be seven next month, a crazy black lab called Einstein. He's quite a traveler, and has ridden the school bus, the trash truck, worked on the railroad, and gone on a two week vacation all by himself. Needless to say, he's well know in our rural area.

I just think this is great fabric! I am so sorry about your dog passing ours did 2 yrs ago and I still can't get DH to talk about getting another one. What a wonderful way to show your love! I would use this fabric to make nap mats with attached pilows for my 2 youngest grandsons. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

We have three pooches. 1. our lazy old collie mix lady who loves her doggie bed. 2. our just as old lab boy who loves to go running through the creeks in our backyard and swim as much as possible as well as chew on his duckie toy. and 3. our brand new baby hound girl who likes to be HEARD and eat all the kids food when they aren't paying attention :)

We do not have a dog but my parents in Slovakia do, and every time (about every two-three years) when we visit them, my kids are just crazy about him. He is a mix breed, about 120 pounds, but getting old. Soooo lovable.
Thanks for the givaway.

Hi - we have 2 goldens like the lady above and my 18 year old son has a blue pick up! So I'd love to make a quilt for him for college to remind him of home. It would be a lap quilt, put away when the friends come over, but happily used when he's studying by himself! I've been sewing all my life, but I'm a quilter of only 3-4 months. I can't believe what amazing fabrics I've been missing! Wonderful prints!

Super great fabric! My pups love to ride in the pickup (front) although I think they would choose back if they could. I would make a baby quilt.
