Urban Circus - Giveaway!

First, thank you all so much for your very thoughtful and sweet notes on my last post. They were really wonderful companions and will be terribly missed. I'm still a pretty big weepy mess but each day will get a bit easier. All of the personal stories you shared, good thoughts and prayers you sent my way are really tremendously kind. Thank you.

Let's get to that giveaway now! As you all know, my second line with Robert Kaufman called Urban Circus is coming out soon. It will start shipping in August which is just around the corner! I can hardly believe it... I think it's a bright and cheery line and I see so many possibilities for cute projects! Quilts, pillows, pjs, bags, clothes for the kiddos, clothes for big people (I would love a skirt from the elephants...).

I whipped up a picnic quilt a few weeks ago that I just love. The quilt pattern is from Erin at House on the Hill Road and it has little pockets on the back of each corner so you can tuck a rock in each corner to keep your quilt from blowing away. It's hand tied and with the big 16x16 squares it came together in an evening. I just backed it with a simple bed sheet so I didn't have to mess with piecing the back.

Here's the details on the giveaway. Good luck!!
-I'd love to hear what projects you'd make with Urban Circus
-Two lucky winners will each get FQ packs with both Spring and Earth color ways
-I'll draw the winners this Sunday AM, 7/10

Urban Circus in Spring

Urban Circus in Earth

A quick update and another fabric giveaway! After you leave your comment here, make sure you go visit my pal Sam's blog, Mummysam. She's got a new line coming out with Robert Kaufman in the same time frame and you will LOVE her fabric!

We are having a baby in February so I would most definitely be making something baby-related! I'm thinking carseat cover, burp cloths, and pieces to a stroller quilt... but I could easily change my mind to a block toy or a pair of cute little pants! Love the pink elephants!

Tong said...

i'm so excited for your new line, love the prints, the animals, and the colours! they are perfect for kids' projects - clothes, backpacks, quilts and pillows! thanks so much for the giveaway and congratulations again on your new line!

First of all, I would cut off the selvages and make something super special with them. :)

And then, hmmmm, I would look at them for a really long time and just savor all the artistry.

And then I would gather up the courage to actually cut into them and make a little throw for each of my grandchildren to enjoy while reading books.

Love the new colors for these fun prints, they will be so great for baby quilts. Thank you for the giveaway!

Super cute picnic blanket! I'd love to make one of those, we don't have a picnic blanket and I think that is sorely lacking on my part. I have several baby quilts to make this summer (another round of friend babies!) and I think the earth line would be great for a boy without being babyish at all, as would the spring line for a girl. And I'd love a skirt made with those elephants too!

Shari said...

Spring colors will be a pinafore for niece aged 18 months and earth colors will be a shirt for my nephew aged 6 months!

Amber H. said...

Looks like I'm lucky number one!

Baby quilt! Hopefully I'll be pregnant again by the end of the summer, and once we find out what we're having, I'll go ahead and make the quilt!

(PS: pop over to my blog, I came up with an awesome binding calculator that all of you quilters should be interested in)

I see lots of baby quilts! Those giraffes and elephants are just too cute and in colorways for both boys and girls!

Would just love to make my boy some with those little elephants on the bum - so so cute!!

LOVE your Urban Circus!
I think something fun for my nieces (5yo & 1yo) would definitely be in order. Maybe a doll quilt for the 5yo and a playmat for the 1yo? The 5yo starts kindergarten in the fall so a cute pencil pouch would definitely be in order!

I really love this line of fabric. I would love to make a baby blanket with this fabric. It is so bright and fun and would make a perfect baby blanket.

Unknown said...

My best friend is having a baby next month so I would make an adorable quilt for her coming little one! Thanks for the great giveaway!

DianeY said...

First I'd use some in clothing for my granddaughters-how I love the pink elephants. Then I would have the scraps-probably a lot because I always buy extra yardage that would be perfect for quilts. My granddaughters get a huge kick out of seeing fabric from a dress or top in a quilt-they can't outgrow the quilt!

Anita said...

I would probably make a skirt for my daughter. What fun fabric!

Vickie said...

I love these! First, I would design 3 unique baby blankets. (I would have to decide which fabric I wanted more of for each back and get it ordered). I would save some fussy cuts for 3 wall hangings designed in the style of "Don't Look Now" and her Rocket pillow tutorial. One of the blankets and wall hangings would go to each of my three children for their first child, (which means one would get one for a 1st birthday). :) If I could save even one scrap for each family, I would put it on the front of a onesie or a bib or even a cute bag. :) Oh what fun I would have!!!! :)

Stevens Family said...

I see baby quilts, baby dresses, even some little boy shirts and pants, and a skirt for me! Wow, I'm going to need a lot of this fabric.
I love the colors. You are amazing and so talented!
Thank you for making my day just by showing some fun fabric that made me smile (that's how I know I need it in clothes I will wear, it will make me happy)

Leah said...

These are great. I am going to make a crossover quilt for my daughters bed.

hmm...I would likely make a doll quilt for my girls or a stuffed toy. I am dabbling in stuffed toys lately :) I have tufted tweets..it's waiting for the perfect pattern or idea to come to me...soon I hope.

Bailey said...

I would make a quilt for my friend who's expecting a baby. They've been trying for quite some time to get pregnant with child #2 and she's expecting in January! I love both color ways but because I'm a mom to 2 boys, the Earth fabrics really call my name!

carriegel said...

We have a new baby arriving in the family in January. This would be perfect for a baby quilt.

Sarah Craig said...

I think I might redo the room my granddaughter uses in my house with curtains, pillows, and a quilt! Or maybe some clothes for her.... or trim some for me! Or all of the above! A fat quarter pack is a wealth of riches!! PS Love that picnic blanket! What a great idea to put rocks in the corner pockets!!

Lindsay said...

I would certainly make a quilt which would then be snorkeled away for the birth of my first niece or nephew (fairly soon hopefully! woot woot).I really like the simple design of the quilt you have featured. It really highlights the fabrics.

If I have any left over i would make a stuffed giraffe with the giraffe prints.

I am always making gifts, but I think I would be a bit selfish with this fabric because I am a bit of an elephant freak!! I LOVE elephants...I think a little summer bag is in order with the Spring collection and I would use the Earth colletion (along with some solids that match) to make a little patchwork picnic blanket. I need a new one, and one with elephants on it would be just perfect!!

A friend has decorated her daughter's room in a girly jungle theme, so I think I'd probably make something for her room. A wall hanging, like maybe a collage of different sized canvases covered with the Urban Circus fabrics.
It's beautiful, really!
I'm in the LA Modern Quilt Guild, and we had our meeting last night. Leslie shared how wonderful it was to meet you in Austin, and there were 8 very happy people after the giveaway. It was great to see all the fabrics live and in person. Thanks!

With two grand nieces (just turned 2 and 5) and two more grands on the way, these would provide some fun fabric to make things for them all. I love these colorful animals and know they would too. Looking forward to more come Sept. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com

My mom's favorite animal is the giraffe, and she also loves bright colors and elephants. I'd make placemats and napkins for her. So glad this fabric line is coming out!

I would love to add this to a baby quilt that i am making for a good friend but I may be forced to make a pillow for me! It would be a true test to give every bit of it up but then again, this baby is going to be very special.
Thanks for the great giveaway!

I love the picnic quilt, so maybe one of those. I also think one could go into children aprons for my children.

Congratulations on Urban Circus coming out (again) in August! It must be amazing to see your name on a selvage... and it is happening often for you, now. So cool!

I have three little girls, so I imagine Urban Circus would make some good looking dresses. Or I'm sure I could make a lovely little quilt with them too. A nap size quilt sounds perfect. :)

Thanks for another great giveaway!

So many possibilities... I would start by making some baby toys (stacking rings and some balls) followed by a baby quilt for my sister's first little one due in November. Your fabrics are a perfect combination of childish whimsy and high style - my absolute favorites for children's projects! Congratulations on this line and keep up the good work!

I love the giraffes. We have a soon-to-be kindergartener in the house, and these would make great back to school clothes or a backpack! Thank you for the chance to win!

I love the idea of a skirt. I think the giraffes would make a fun skirt as well as the elephants. They would also make some cute kids clothes. My real love is quilts though and it would probably all be used in a fun quilt before I ever got around to clothing.
Thanks for sharing.

Such great fabric, as usual! Too many cute ideas to make it would be hard to choose. I would certainly use every bit of the fabric, right down to any scraps leftover from projects and also the selvages. I'd make a bag, a wallet, a skirt, a headband, table runner, pillows, doggie beds, and of course a few quilts and wall hangings. Thanks for being so generous and doing another giveaway.

This is such great fabric... I love when I find fabric that is cool enough for boy stuff and still sweet enough for girls. I have two boys and am getting the itch to add to my brood, so all I can think about sewing lately is baby stuff... like bibs, super cool burp rags, a diaper bag, maybe some giraffe appliques on a little newborn onesie and about a million other little baby accessories. Of course, I don't want to jinx anything by sewing baby girl stuff so this fabric is perfect. I can make boy stuff (and secretly imagine how it might look for a little girl... maybe?)

Am I too late? I would totally use the fabric to make an awesome quilt.

Oh wow! I didn't know I could love those prints even more than I did before. I am crazy for the new colourways! I am a nanny to an adorable set of twins (boy and a girl) and I would love to be able to make them matching big boy and big girl quilts for their beds.
