An update and some store news

Helloooooo! So sorry I have been absent from the blog for a few weeks. Things here have been super chaotic and I'm trying to keep all these balls in the air without dropping any. Unfortunately, that meant going radio silent on the blog. But I'm back with an update :)

First, news from the world of Robert Kaufman fabrics. My first collection for them, Tufted Tweets will officially be in stores by May. Yipee!!! As soon as I get my samples I will post a sneak peak pictures.

AND... there's officially a second collection in the works with Robert Kaufman. I can't share any additional details yet, but by late summer/early fall, the second collection will be in stores too. I am beside myself with excitement.

And of course, I'm still focusing on independently printing and selling new designs (like my Donkeys and Wellies) through my Etsy store. I love being able to produce new designs in limited quantities and see how you like them! One of the big things that has been keeping me so busy lately, is that I'm in the midst of exploring some alternate production methods. I'm looking at other ways to print my patterns on paper, on fabric and on a few other suprise mediums.

So until I get it all worked out, I've decided to shut down the store for a few weeks. Bear with me while I get all my ducks in a row and figure out the best way to manage all of this. I honestly never expected that the store would get as big as it's gotten. Thank you for all your wonderful support! :)

There is a vacation banner in the store, but if you have questions you can always email me by clicking on the 'contact scarlet fig' link in the bottom right corner of the store.

Stay tuned!

Featured on Decor8

Lookie!!! I was featured on Decor8 this morning. What lovely design company to find my patterns listed with. I am such an avid reader of Decor8, so to be featured a second time (I got a nice write up there a few months ago too), is such a gi-normous thrill. :)
Take a peek!

Nominated for the Poppie Awards

Someone nominated me for the Poppie Awards, which regonizes indie designers in the Handamde Community. Scarlet Fig was submitted by someone (thanks whoever you are!) in the Favorite Handmade Housewares category for my pillows :).

I feel like a total dork asking, but would you go vote for me? It's listed under Scarlet Fig.

Tufted Tweets Strikeoffs - on their way!

A super quick post... Heard from Kaufman and my strikeoffs for Tufted Tweets (have I told you that's the name of the collection??) should be here in a few weeks. The strikeoffs are the color proofs that I get from the printer. (It's funny being in advertising all those years and printing on paper. And now, printing on fabric at a big plant with Kaufman is a completely different process and it has it's own terminology and it's own timeline ... that I'm still learning!)

As soon as I get something in the mail I will post a sneak peek. :) Can't wait to see how the new color palettes come out. Wheeee!

And... I decided that I will be releasing some new limited edition couch and chair patterns to coordinate with the Kaufman fabrics. Spent some time designing the other night and I'm excited about how the designs are coming together.

So glad the weekend is coming, I think I am going to have to find a project to work on this weekend for one of my new fabrics, Rabbit Trellis. I just adore the little yellow bunnies on the chartreuse. Anyone have any ideas? I need a cute PJ bottom pattern I think...

Gotta dash. Later taters. Have a great day! :)

Craft Hope for Haiti

Take a minute to go over to Craft Hope, an Etsy shop set up to benefit Doctors Without Borders, with 100% of the proceeds going to them. As you know, the medical need in Haiti right now is acute. My heart is just breaking for all of those families.

All of the goods in the Craft Hope shop are handmade and have been donated by Etsy sellers around the world. And a Donkeys in Wellie Rainboots pillow cover will be making it's way into their listings within 24 hours is now listed in their store here. New stuff is being added as fast as the ladies running the Craft Hope Etsy shop can get them listed, so keep popping in to see what's new.

April - Kaufman fabrics available to stores
-Kaufman launches my first collection. Some couches, some chairs, some birdies, some surprises, and lush new color ways!

My 2010 Calendar

I'm so busy these days that I don't get as much time to spend sewing and stitching as I'd like. But because it is such a treat, I think I enjoy it even more. So, over the Xmas holiday I made sure I got to spend a few hours at the sewing machine and with my embroidery hoop.

Every year I spend HOURS searching for the perfect calendar. When I stumbled across this blank fabric calendar from SeptemberHouse, I immediately knew I wanted to use some of my fabrics to personalize it. I love the way it turned out and hanging it with pant hangers seemed like the perfect accessory. I pieced together some scraps for the sides, adding some embroidery details around a few months and then backed the whole thing with freezer paper so it would have some stiffness. I finished it by top stitching the middle panel with the Birdie Dots. It makes my office very cheery!

Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year! Thank so much for all your support, 2009 has been an astoundingly amazing year and I can't wait to see what 2010 brings.
xoxo
