hmmm... here's hoping they'd be good layers and the perfect way to start my backyard flock. I daydream about having chickens and a cute little coop in the backyard. Someday...

P.S. Got the pretty pretty fabric in the mail just the other day. Boy that was fast! I love it. Thanks!!!

As long as they lay eggs, they could prove very useful, otherwise they might end up as dinner.

Three French hens...I love France, everything about it, so I would feel a little closer to France by having these hens in the yard. I have always dreamed of having chickens, so that we could have fresh eggs everyday, three would be perfect!

Can you eat french hens? Sounds like Christmas dinner to me!

Kathy 12 said...

3 french hens - kind of like the saying teach them to fish - hens lay eggs and Easter is coming - I think a hen house would be good!

Elizabeth 13 said...

I'm vegetarian myself but I'd be up for the challenge of learning to cook them Julia Child-style.

I would let my kids burn some energy chasing them around the yard!

This is the perfect opportunity for me to get a chicken coop.

I've been wanting some chickens, so I'd build a coop and keep them for eggs. We'd have frittata every Saturday, and I'd give away the extra eggs to Food Gatherers.

Deb 22 said...

Like most people I think I'd use them for culinary purposes...

Anonymous 23 said...

Chickens are lovely but live ones would terrify the cat and get chased by the baby so I'm afraid they'd have to go in the oven!

SewLindaAnn 24 said...

3 French Hens would have a lovely townhouse coop in my backyard and an opportunity to weed my garden of it's many Summer bugs. In exchange for this lovely life I'd hope for some eggs.

linda 25 said...

Lindsay 41 said...

I think I would try and get some eggs out of these ones too...

Beth@seasonsofhome 42 said...

I adore fresh eggs and have quite a little flock they could join but now I just really want to make a quilt with a block for every line of the song.

Brittany 43 said...

I too would have to keep them ... the eggs would be tasty. hmmm ... I guess I could turn the balcony into a coop and tell the land lord they are cats. Cats and hens look alike ... right? ;-)

VickiT 50 said...

Ooh I am not sure about zoning ordinances but if I could, I'd make those French Hens a little house because I LOVE fresh eggs. They are so much better than what you can buy in the stores.

allisa jacobs 51 said...

I'd start the farm I've always wanted...

Kelsey 52 said...

Suzanne 64 said...

I'd hope my neighbors wouldn't notice and keep them in the backyard so we could enjoy fresh eggs!

Lisnaweary Quilts 65 said...

I think 3 French Hens would be very posh, I think they would need their own castle..they would probably have little parasols..little pillbox hats...little bows around their necks and they would chatter all day.

Eve 66 said...

I'd give them a nice place to live at my in-laws farm, free to do whatever the heck French hens like to do.

WandaFish 79 said...

I was going to say I'd keep 2 for eggs and 1 for dinner, but I think my next door neighbour has 2 hens that live near my bedroom window so maybe I'll just keep the 3 to outdo the noise of hers! (childish? yes!)

Brigette 128 said...

Yum! I would give them to friend who keeps chickens.

Purl Buttons 129 said...

With three French hens, I would photograph them and play with the images, print my own fabric and make some chicken quilts. I would try to paint them for note cards and I would knit them tiny sweaters. Really, I would. But I would have to give them to my brother so he can start his retirement hobby farm. We are deed restricted from chickens and roosters! I find that funny.

Pattie Crum 130 said...

I would love to say something sweet but, I'm pretty sure I would eat them sooner or later.

Sewing Miles of Smiles 131 said...

My cat does the same thing. I think an alarm goes off when I pick up my camera and he follows me so he can get in the photo!
