Donktober | And a Jack and Jenny Giveaway

Donktober. What Donktober you ask? Well, I had the same question when Erin at Missy Mac Creations emailed to invite me to participate in her Donktoberfest! And come to find out that its a celebration of all things donkey and craft related, so of course I said count me in!

When I designed Jack and Jenny, it was after a rainy vacation to Greece where there were some donkeys in a field and I really wish I had my wellies with me so I could go slog through the mud to visit them. (Who would think to pack wellies for a beach vacation to Greece!?) They looked so cute out there, but there was no way I was going to be able to slosh through that field in order to get out there for a proper hello (especially since I was a teensy bit bitter about the rain putting a damper on my supposed to be sunny beach holiday!) The memory of those cuties out there sort of stuck in my head and in my round about way,  my Jack and Jenny donkeys in rainboots collection was born. I just love what sweet faces donkeys have, don't you? And those big long ears? And now they get to wear sassy rain boots.

For inspiration, here are some projects I made using Jack and Jenny. I'm still hoping to make myself a pair of PJ bottoms soon :)

Skirts and tanktops for the Tam Ky Orphanage project

Baby blocks I made for a friend.

So in celebration of Donktober, for all of you donkey lovers out there, I'd love to send you a FQ set of my Jack and Jenny fabric (in all 3 colors!). Just leave me a comment here and I'll randomly draw a winner on Friday 10/26/12. If you have any donkey tales to share, I'd love to hear them. And if not, I'd love to know what you might make from the fabric. As always, international entries welcome. :) And don't forget to include a way for me to contact you. Once you've left me your comment, head over to Erin's blog for loads of other Donkey related projects! There's a darn cute sock donkey project that's calling my name...

Good luck!

We saw a ton of adorable donkeys in Ireland, too (usually with rain...). I love your fabric!

Isisjem 40 said...

I just won a bit of these so maybe entering here is a bit greedy but I can tell you a donkey story: Across the road from me growing up was a small holding and they had a couple of donkeys. I could watch them out of my bedroom window or on walks feed them grass or a carrot through the hedge and I'd love watching them. I had no idea how old donkeys lived to but I marvelled that these kept going for so many years. It was only just before the farmer died he told me if a donkey died he'd always buy a replacement to keep the other company. So actually I'd been watching lots of different donkeys over the years and I hadn't realised...although it did explain why one changed colour a bit ;-)

My brother had two donkeys because they supposedly keep the coyotes and animals away from the calves when they were born. They were in our field, attacked the calves and were rather mean, so Bro gave them away. For now, we listen to the hee-haw in the neighbors field. Now, your wellie donkeys are sweet ones and I have 5 grandnieces who would love this fabric made into an outfit or blankie.

Such sweet donkeys! For the past 25+ years we've had three Mediterranean donkeys living just across from our house. Our two sons grew up taking care of them when their owners were vacationing. Faro, Avora and a name I can't remember were such a part of our lives....now when the grandkids come they go feed saltine crackers to the remaining two.....the original neighbor owners both passed away and willed them to our other neighbor. I'd love to make a kids quilt or some girly shorts (3 granddaughters! )

All at the same time, our sweet donkey, Sara went through the fence tha t was cut and ended up in our chicken coop, eating the chicken food! Lol, what a funny donkey!!
